Spooky Halloween Quilt

Over the summer I have been lucky enough to stumble accross some really cute halloween fabrics for some really great prices (hello $ .50 a yard!) I have always wanted to make a rag quilt and decided to go for it.

I started cutting with no real pattern, and this is what I ended up with.

I absolutely love this quilt!! It still needs to fray a bit, but that should happen with a couple more washes.

I've Been Published

YAY!!! I was asked to do a shoot for a local weekly paper and jumped at the chance. I have been taking pictures for about 8 years now, and I am just now confident enough to put myself out there and try to get published. I have had a few pics in print before, but not on the cover!! I am so excited. A huge thanks to The Alchemist for giving me this opportunity!

Birthday, Blogoversary, Memo Board, and oh yeah...Kidney Stones

Hello all. I have had a busy two week. First, I missed my blogoversary. Second, my I celebrated my 30th birthday on Thursday. What did I get as a present for both of those milestones?? Yep, kidney stones. Thankfully, I am feeling better and the whole situation has 'passed'.

Since I still wasn't feeling 100% I wanted to go low key, so we went to the Portland Zoo. I got some great shots (I'll post some later).

I have this great memo board I made from a cork board I picked up at GW for two bucks.

I started by covering the board with one layer of quilt batting and some leftover fabric for my bedroom re-do. I secured each layer with my handy staple gun.

To start the ribbons going accross the front, I ran one ribbon from each corner.

To ensure that I had the ribbons equally spaced I used one of my quilting rulers to place the other ribbons.

Once I finished with placing the ribbon I added a thumbnail to each point where the ribbon crossed. I just loved the quilted look, but didn't care for the brass-y look of the tacs.

Inspiration struck and I decided to hot glue a button to the top of each tac. Love.

I made a few fabric flowers for the corner and added buttons to the center of those as well.

I added ribbon to hang it and viola!

Super cute memo board that matches my bedroom perfectly! And all for less than five bucks!!!!!

1. What is your natural hair color?

Medium brown with lots of red in it. Seriously, no matter what color I try to dye my hair it ALWAYS pulls red!!

2. Which do you prefer, sunrises or sunsets?

That's a toughie for me. Some of you may know that I am a photographer so both sunrises and sunsets are great for light. I prefer a sunrise, but loathe how early you have to rise to enjoy one!

3. What is the first thing you notice about people?

Eyes. Corny but true: Eyes are the windows to the soul.

4. Do you prefer talking or texting on your cell phone?

Texting. It's so much easier to multi-task, you don't have to give your full attention to the whole time you are chatting with someone.

5. What size of shoes do you wear?

9 1/2. Usually. Depending on the width and other stuff maybe a half to whole size up.

Jalepeno Cornbread

The other day I made a delicious Cilantro Lime Chicken and I needed a side dish.

After looking through my pantry I settled on cornbread. As I was mixing it I was struck with some inspiration. Why not throw a jalepeno and some shredded cheddar cheese in there?

I used one jalapeno (diced very finely) and two handfuls of cheese and folded them into the cornbread batter. I baked according the the directions on the package and voila.

Delicious and easy.

PS - If you don't have enough batter to fill all the cups in a muffin tin, pour some water in the empty cups. It helps the muffins cook evenly.

How to Shorten a Sleeve

I am a server, my uniform is ALL black. Needless to say it gets really warm while I am working. I found a great shirt a few months ago for work, but it had long sleeves. I decided to shorten them so I am able to use it over the warm season as well.

This project took about ten minutes, and I didn't even have to break out my sewing machine!!

First off put the shirt on to get an idea of where you want the sleeves to end. Mark the shirt, take it off and measure where you should make the cut.

Cut both sleeves. Remember, measure twice and cut once! I was careful with this project but there have been many times I haven't measured twice and boy did I regret it!!

To secure the hem I used Steam-A-Seam. This paticular one comes on a roll, so I just attached it turned the hem and ironed it into place.

Now I have another work shirt that I can wear in the heat!

Another Table Lamp Revamp

I dressed up this lamp shortly after I finished this one, I just haven't gotten around to posting about it yet. (Bad blogger!)
I found this lamp and the shade at my local Goodwill. I don't remember exactly what I paid for each, but I think I got the whole thing for less than ten bucks.

I taped the lamp off and started spraying. For this project I used Krylon in Leather. The trick to getting good coverage is using a good spray paint and spraying lots of light coats. (that's what works for me)

While waiting for the paint to dry I covered the shade in fabric.

I love the way it turned out!!

Fun Frame Makeover

I have had this frame forever just sitting in a box.
If I had known it could be this cute I would have started earlier!

Here's the down and dirty:

I sprayed the frame a sunny yellow. I didn't prime or sand so the wood ~~grain/stain~~ whatever showed right through. Luckily, I lurve that look so it was perfect! I didn't have the glass or backing for this frame so I had to come up with something. Enter corkboard.

I cut the cork to fit snugly and hot glued it in place. (cork cuts really easily with a razor blade, make one pass with the blad and then 'break' it apart)

I added some colorful ribbon to hang it with and stood back to enjoy my work. It was missing something. I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with it so I walked away.

I started going through my fabric stash and inspiration hit......add a couple of fabric flowers to the corner.

The flowers were super easy, I just put a glob of hot glue in the center of a circle (cut from whatever fabric you like) and kind scrunched up just the center of the circle. As it dries you can pull and press it to make sure it lays the way you like it. To finish it off I just added a matching button the to the center of each flower.

Perfect.

Exactly what it needed.

Berry Pickin' Fun

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend. Isn't it the best when those holidays actually fall on a weekend? It just seems like everyone has more fun!

I haven't been up to much crafting lately, but I do have some projects in the works. One is for a guest post I will be doing later this month!! (SUPER excited about that one!)

One of the best things about living in the Willamette Valley is the amazing produce that grows locally. Today was a hot one at about 95, we decided leaving early would ensure that we had picked out bounty before the heat really hit. Blueberries were the main goal for our trip today, but just a mile up the road is a great raspberry farm so we decided to stop by there as well.

The blueberries were HUGE, and there were lots of them.

We picked just over 4 lbs of blueberries and grabbed some fresh peas (still in the pod!) for a grand total of $5!

The raspberries were just as plentiful, though the best berries are always hiding under the foilage so it takes a little searching.

Again, we were amazed at the size of these raspberries! We took a picture of one next to a quarter to show the huge-ness of them.

We found about 4 lbs of berries and paid only $5! I love that we are able to go to local family owned farms and pick our own produce.

Tutu Drive

Natasha over at Samster Mommy is starting a tutu drive for The Princess Alexa Foundation. The foundation provides dress up clothes to seriously ill children to help them escape the reality of their disease for little bit. Natasha has pledged 100 tutus and I couldn't help but say 'of course I can make at least one to send off'. This is a great idea and will help some amazing kids, please go check out the sites and if you have time donate one yourself!

Message Board Makeover

I found this beauty in the 'to be thrown out' pile at work one day (about two years ago). It is part of a cubicle wall. I painted it to match my craft room and just used it as a magnet board. Since moving I have decided to go with a different color scheme and decided the board needed a new look and a new purpose.

I spray painted the entire thing a sunny yellow. I was impatient so I didn't sand or prime, but it turned out great. After it dried I taped off a rectangle on either side and painted it with chalkboard paint. (This is my first project working with chalkboard paint and I love it!)

While I was waiting for it to dry I took some alphabet magnets I got in a set from the DollarTree and bottle caps and glued some glitter on them. Now I use one side for my 'dream/idea' list and the other for my craft shopping list. I can hang coupons, flyers, or whatever else on there as well. I love that I have a functional message board that looks great, and all for less that five bucks!!

Table Lamp Re-Vamp

Ha ha, I am a poet. Anyway, in decorating for the new place I realized I had ZERO table lamps. I priced them out at Target and what-not. Boy, those things get expensive! I decided to check out the Goodwill and found a beauty. It didn't matter what color it was because I wanted to paint it anyway. I got this one for three bucks! I used Krylon paint and used a very light spray with multiple coats to ensure a clean even coverage.

I can't find my before picture!!! Imagine an ugly yellowed lamp here.

I didn't find a shade at the GW, but found one at Target for about five bucks. I happended to have some 'beach' themed fabric on hand for redecorating my living room. I used some quick grab glue and glued the fabric in one piece over the shade.

To finish the seam I just folded the fabric over on itself and glued it down.

Then to finish off the top and bottom edges I hot glued some cotton cording I picked up at Joanns.

Here she is all finished.

I just love the way it turned out! I wasn't entirely sure I could make my theme happened with sticking to my color scheme, but I think it is turning out great!

A Good Thing

Ok, so I am finally settled in after moving a month ago (well, almost) and figured it was time to stop neglecting my bff's in blogland. Have no worries dear followers, I have been busy crafting this past month and have been very good about take pictures to show you the fun stuff I have created. With school done till September, my summer vacation holds the promise of lots of crafting and some fun outdoor adventures. Here is a project I started, oh about a year ago. (alright, I started it last August) My wonderful boyfriend, Nathan, bought me this super cute magazine stand for my birthday.

I started to refinish it and then in all of my slacker glory, I let it sit outside all winter. Anyone who is familiar with an Oregon winter knows that means inches and inches of rain fell on this poor little thing. Here is what it looked like after weathering the storm.

First peeled off the laminate top and sanded it down (it took a lot of sanding). I started spraypainting it, after I used a whole can and had almost zero coverage I decided to brush paint it instead. I chose Behr Pebble White. Three coats of paint later I did a little distressing and added some dark glaze to bring out the 'love marks'.

I absolutely love it! I can't believe I honestly thought about throwing it out. I will show you what I put out on the table in a later post. (some more fun stuff there!)

Glitter Headbands

My latest ~~victim~~ project are these headbands I picked up at the Dollartree. They come in a pack of 6 for a buck! They offer a wide variety of colors and I thought they would look adorable covered in glitter.

Boy was I right! I love these. I can match them to shirts and wear multiples if I want.

But remember ladies, wearing too much glitter can backfire.

Today

I had the pleasure of visiting the Oregon Coast with my boyfriend. The sun was out and the beach was gorgeous. Even with it being spring break here in Oregon, we were able to find secluded places on the beach to take in the view.

We did see an odd sight though. SURFERS!!! Now surfers themselves are not odd, but seeing them on Oregon waves is. Even in the middle of summer our oceans are freezing, so surfing is not a huge sport here. I felt the water today and you couldn't pay me enough to submerge myself in that salty ice bath!

All in all it was an amazing day. Love.

Not What I Had in Mind

So this project started with the best of intentions. I had dreams of a gorgeous banner made up of egg shapes in pretty pastel colors with E-A-S-T-E-R spelled out on them. Well, that is not how it turned out.

I was frustrated at first and thought about trashing the whole project. Then I thought about my wonderful bloggy friends. I was sure others out there have failed at accomplishing exactly what they had envisioned, so why not post this project and share one of my mishaps?

I remember seeing projects similar to this around Valentine's Day but can't remember where I saw it. (if you do, let me know and I will give them credit) I remember making 'stained glass' projects in Girl Scouts using this same technique and some fall leaves. Here's how I did it:

Start by shaving some crayons. Any colors you want. I chose a wide variety, but in hindsight (it's always 20/20) I should have stuck with strictly pastels in only a few colors.

Then take a long strip of wax paper and fold it in half. Set the wax paper on a towel on a heat safe surface. Lay the wax paper flat and sprinkle the crayon shavings over one side of the wax paper leaving at least an inch on all sides. Fold it back over and cover with a towel. (it will protect you iron)

Using a high heat setting run your iron over the towel. I kept checking the paper to see how melty the wax was getting. If you iron too much it will turn into a nice brown blob.

After it is the correct swirly-ness, let the paper cool completely. After it has cooled trace the shape you want to cut out and start cutting. If the two sides start to separate you can iron them again. To string my eggs on the ribbon, I cut two slits in the top of each egg and used a big gauge needle to thread the ribbon. I added letters and a little bow to each egg to complete the look.

If I had used less colors then I would completely be in love with this banner.
Well, that's life. Maybe I will try again........

PS - I got this awesome iron a few weeks ago at Joann's on clearance. Reg $60 and I got it for $15. It has a great digital display, quick heat up, and it also doubles as a steamer! I am a little embarrassed to admit that it's been about five years since I have owned an iron. I love it!

Scrappin' Saturday

In an effort to ~~eliminate~~ greatly reduce the number of pictures I have waiting to be scrapped I am going to start a weekly feature. Every Saturday I will finish a scrapbook page and post it here. Maybe one week we will even do a linky party with a giveaway! So, on to the scrappin'......

I worked on the photos from a family birthday party last year. The kids are born in the same month so mom and dad decided to combine two parties into one.

And this is one of my favorite stickers! I love this sticker and have been waiting for an opportunity to use it.

Glitter, Glitter Everywhere

I am currently in the midst of a glitter bender. I am compulsively finding things that I think would be better with glitter. Does anyone know where a Glitteraholics Anonymous meeting is?

Anyway, these are some earrings I bought to go with the bracelet in this post.

They were not so bad, but I never wore them. Enter Martha Stewart glitter in tourmaline, a beautiful deep pink hue. I used Mod Podge to adhere the glitter, but decided to not give these a coat to seal it in.

These are another pair of hoops (I really like hoop earrings) that I didn't wear because the cheap-o metal was starting to tarnish.

One of my favorite colors of this spring is turquoise. I have a few new shirts in that color that desperately needed something glittery to match. Enter Martha Stewart glitter in feldspar, a gorgeous almost aqua glitter.

I love how these turned out and even wore them today. I didn't seal in the glitter on these either, and loved the subtle dust of glitter it gave me after wearing them for awhile!

Feelin' Lucky

OMG! I realized I haven't made any St Paddy's Day decor this year! I am such a slacker.

I blame it all on school. This week is finals week, so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Anyhow, I had a sign leftover from some Christmas crafting I was doing and decided it needed a makeover.

I painted it a light green and used my Cricut to cut out 'Lucky'.

I decided to add some buttons and ribbon to just dress it up a little.

I have had this frame lying around for a few months now. I happened across it while I was cleaning up my craft space (don't you LOVE it when that happens?) and I was struck with inspiration.

It would look adorable redone Easter style.

I had the perfect egg paper for the background and chose all the other colors to match it. I forgot to take a before picture (I hate when that happens) but here is how it turned out:

I had everything on hand so this was free (score!). I used purple acrylic paint on the frame and my Cricut to cut the letters out of paper I had on hand.

I love it! Now I just have to decide where to put it.

It's Glitter Time

A few years ago we had an 80's night at work and to complete my costume I bought some jewelry.

Since that night I have not worn this bracelet (or the necklace - but that's another post). I was looking for a fast and easy craft to work on last night when an idea popped into my head.

Why not add some glitter to the bracelet and turn it into something I actually would wear?

So I did.

I used Martha Stewart glitter in Sterling. I used Mod Podge to adhere the glitter. I applied one coat and waited for it to dry, then added another. After the entire bracelet was dry, I sealed the glitter in with another coat of Mod Podge. (I used the shiny Mod Podge for this project)

I love it and will probably wear it today to show it off!

Argyle(ish) Cork Board

My issue:

I have jewelry that I would wear, but every time I try to find something it's tangled or has sprouted legs and walked away.

This is my solution:

But it's oh so boring. I knew I needed to spruce it up, but couldn't decide what I wanted to do.

Enter argyle. I absolutely love everything argyle. I thought about covering them in fabric, then chose to paint them instead. Here's how I did it.

Start by taping off your squares.

Carefully remove the tape before it dries completely (if you wait till it dries it may pull paint off with the tape)

Next, tape off the thin lines

For the stripes, I taped off in one direction painted, then taped off the other.

I really liked it, but thought it was a little flat. To really make the brown stand out I used some Martha Stewart glitter in brownstone on the brown paint.

I hung them above my dresser, they looked so cute blank I almost used them as art.

Almost.

Love. Now maybe I will actually wear some of my baubles.

Bloomin'

I adore spring! The beautiful daffodils, tulips, and lilacs! Everything just seems to come to life.

B is for Brooklynn

When my friend Becca told me she was pregnant (about a year ago), I decided I wanted to make her new little bundle a quilt. My grandma quilts a lot and after talking to her I knew I was up to this challenge. I hinted to this quilt back here.

I scoured books and the internet but couldn't find one that I really liked, so I made up my own.

The squares are 8X11, I used my Cricut (love) to make the template for my flowers and the letter, the dragonflies were freehand. I decided to use flannel because it is super soft (and on sale!). All of the appliques are handstitched and secured with fabric glue. Boy does flannel like to fray. And stretch.

I loved it and can't wait to swaddle her up in this cozy creation!

Another Jar Candle Repurose

I did a project a little while back and turned a jar candle into a pen holder.
See it here.

This time the jars are smaller,

I start by removing all the labels (don't forget the ones on the bottom),
then place the jars is a water bath and let the wax melt.

Then scrape out the wax and wipe it clean with a paper towel.

I glued some black cardstock in the bottom of the jars,

then filled them up with my button collection.

Cute and practical! What could be better?

I finally broke down and bought the Martha Stewart 24 pack of glitter.

I LURVE it!! I can't wait to start makin' some glitter stuffs!

The colors are true and vibrant and the pieces of glitter are itty-bitty.

Dreamin'

I wanted to make a fun banner with glitter, so I did!

I used an old cereal box and traced letters then cut them out. After they were cut I used spray paint and gave them a good coat of white so none of the print would show through. Once the paint was dry I covered each letter in glue then sprinkled on the pink glitter. I put each letter over a paper plate so I could contain the mess and save the leftovers. I let the glue dry overnight, then glued each letter to a piece of ribbon.

Now she hangs on the mirror in my bedroom. I think it's so pretty and it reminds me to go for my dreams. Nothing is out of reach!

Dalgetty's Gift

Becca, my best friend, has a friend who got married a few weeks ago. She wanted to get them a personal gift and asked me to make a sign for her. It was so easy and practically free, so I thought I would share it with everyone.

A few months ago I saw a stash of stuff on the side of the road marked free and sent my boyfriend to go pick it up. Along with some great frames, there was a really UGLY shelf. I tore the shelf apart and used the pieces to make signs.

I painted this one a glossy black and used my Cricut to cut out the letters. I used glossy Mod Podge and gave it an extra coat to seal the whole thing. I added a ribbon to hang it by gluing and then stapling the ribbon to the sign.

I think it is just adorable! A gift any couple would be happy to get!

Super Easy Valentine Decoration

Making this heart garland was one of the easiest craft projects ever!

I used my cricut and cut out hearts in different sizes and shapes. To attach them to the string I used Fast Grab Tacky Glue. I just squeezed a line of it and laid the string in the glue. That is pretty much it.

I got a little carried away with the length, so I couldn't get a pic of the full garland.

New Life for a Jar Candle

Ok ladies, lets be honest, we have ~~a few~~ about a million jar candles with teeny bits of wax left in them that we can't bear to throw away. (Oh, am I the only one?!?!?)

Anyway, on my quest to declutter and decrapify in 2010 I decided to get rid of the things I never use, almost empty jar candles fall under that category. I put this particular one in the trash and walked away, then immediately turned around and dug it back out. (hey, it was a fresh liner!) I decided that this jar deserved a better life than a landfill somewhere! Here is how I did it:

First to clean out the wax, I filled a sauce pan about halfway with water and put it on medium heat. I put the jar in the water and watched till the edges melted and the wax just popped out. Unfortunately this particular brand glues the wick holders to the bottom of the jar. To get the super duper sticky stuff off I put it back in the water and then it wiped clean with a paper towel. (Of course I forgot to get pics of this part!)

Anywhoo, after the jar had cooled, I measured the rim and used my handy dandy circle cutter to cut a circle out of cardstock. I glued the cardstock to the bottom of the jar. Then, just for fun I cut another circle out of some cute valentine paper and placed it in the bottom of the jar.

Now the jar is filled with my sharpies and is lovin' it's new lease on life!

One of my goals for 2010 is to get ~~all~~ most of pictures put into my scrapbooks.

I thought it would be fun to share my layouts with you all!

Two of my essential tools for scrapbooking are these:

I can't tell you how many times I have gone to these wonderful books and come away with great ideas!

I bought both of mine through ebay a few years ago, and in doing research for this post, discovered that they are WAY overpriced now (like $70 bucks each!)

But, if you shop Joanne's and bring in a coupon, you should be able to pick one up for less than $10 bucks!

Becky Higgins did a great job making 'recipes' for page layouts. She even shows a few variations on each page she has designed!

Anywhoo, on the the layouts.

Oh, how I love my family and friends! Anyway, hope you all have a happy Monday!

One more thing.......does anyone out there in blogland know of a great vellum tape that will not show up when used with textured cardstock?

This project was absolutely free and super easy.
I cut a 1X2 (leftover from a previous project) into various lengths,

Finishing a Five Year Project

So I bought a ready to sew blanket at Jo-Anns about five (yes FIVE) years ago.

It was not in colors I wanted, but it was about three bucks so I couldn't resist.

I started it right away, and then got distracted or lost interest...

fast forward to me 'purging' my sewing stash and finding it....

about twenty minutes later it was done.

Still not colors, or patterns, I really like but my dog, Dewey, loves it.

I received this great book for Christmas from Natalie.
As I was browsing, I found a super cute table runner I just had to make! I just loved the stars, and the mish-mash of christmas-y colors.
I went through my fabric stash and found some great prints I forgot I had!
I LOVE when that happens!
A quick trip to Jo-Ann's and I had everything I needed.

Gift Bags and Cake Finale

We needed some gift bags for the prizes at the shower tomorrow,

and I didn't want to spend $4 each for the cute bags....

So, I headed down to the local $1 store and grabbed these bags that were two for a dollar!

I used my trusty Cricut and added some ribbon and raffia....

and viola!

Super cute gift bags for about fifty cents each!

Here is the banner I made for Becca's baby shower.

I didn't like the decoration that was on the diaper,

so I covered the band with the ribbon left over from the diaper cake.

I think the clothspins add the prefect touch!

Diaper Cake Tutorial

Yep, it's here. My first ever tutorial. My bestie is having a baby, and I am hosting the shower. I knew immediately that I wanted a diaper cake for the centerpiece. (and I thought to myself 'self, wouldn't your readers LOVE a tutorial on how to make this cute thing?') So here it is. Feel free to ask any questions and remember, I LOVE COMMENTS!

Supplies needed:
- About 70 diapers (I used size 2)
- Baby bottle (center of cake)
- Cake circle (base of cake)
- Rubberbands
- Lots and lots of ribbon

Step 1:
Lay diaper out with design facing up

Step 2:
Start rolling diaper, starting with the open end (that way the design on the diaper is hidden) secure rolled diaper with ribbon (or rubberbands). Roll all of the diapers and set them aside.

Step 3:
Mark the center of the cake circle. (I cut mine from a leftover pizza box - using a record as a template)

Step 4:
Secure bottle to cake circle. Surround bottle with diaper rolls (my first round took 7 diapers) and secure with a rubberband.

Step 5:
Continue by surrounding the first ring with another ring of diapers and secure with a ribbon (my rubberbands wouldn't stretch big enough to secure the second ring). I found it was easiest to lean the diapers against the first ring, loop the ribbon around the ring and use the ribbon to tighten the second ring, adjusting the diapers as needed.

Step 6:
Repeat step 5 to make the third ring. (the bottom tier uses about 40 diapers)

Step 7:
Now, repeat step 4 and surround the top of the bottle with diapers to make the first ring of the second tier.

Step 8:
Repeat step 5 to make the second ring on the second tier.

Step 9:
Next I used craft sticks to secure the third tier to the other two.

Step 10:
Place one rolled diaper in the center of the craft sticks. Next, surround them with diapers like you did in the fourth step and secure them with a rubberband.

Step 11:

Cover rubberbands with some decorative ribbon. Take this time to make sure the tiers are level and all of the diapers are facing a uniform direction.

Step 12:

Now add bows, baby items, ribbons, or whatever you feel makes your diaper cake gorgeous.

(sorry about the safety pins - the glue wasn't dry but I wanted to get this tutorial done!)

Step 13: Stand back and take in your amazing 'crafty' abilities!

Dollar Store Sign Makeover

I picked up this sign a few days ago at my local dollar store not really knowing what I would be doing with it.

After going through my stash of paper, I decided it would look great as a Christmas sign...

Though I do like the end result, I still feel like it's missing something

Christmas to Halloween Makeover

While going through my holiday decorations,

I found this tin that I though could use a makeover.

I absolutely love it when I am able to create something

without having to make a run to the store.

I painted the tin, added some paper and stickers and covered it with mod podge.

A touch of ribbon, a few other pretties and it's done!

A couple months ago I (well, my boyfriend) picked up some picture

frames from the side of the road that were destined for the trash can.

None of them had glass or any backing,

but I knew I could give them a new lease on life!

Some of them could not be saved, but those that were are loving life now!

I took the two of the frames and painted them with matte black spray paint.

Then added some wire fencing I painted black as well.

I measured and cut (only suffering a few cuts myself) the wire fencing to fit inside the

frame (where the glass would be) and secured using a staple gun.

After giving the piece one more coat of paint, I stapled some coordinating fabric

to the back of the frame.

The clothespins I bought didn't look right on the frames, so I headed back to the

store and picked up some mini clothespins.

I then painted and mod podged the clothespins in coordinating papers and viola!

I had to have them, though I didn't have a project in mind.

Then it hit me,

way to display school art, photos,

This is a cute little decoration I made out of 'ingredients' I had laying around.

My friend Becca's daughter Baily is re-doing her room in a black and white polka dot theme.

This turned out absolutely adorable!

Reliving My not so distant Youth

Since I was up early enough to catch the sunrise this morning,

I thought we should grab some delicious breakfast.

I called up my brother and his girlfriend and the four of us head down to Big Jim's

(oops, I mean Kevin's Cafe)

The restaurant has changed hands a few times since I worked there,

but the recipes have been passed down.

They still have the best homestyle breakfast in town!

OK. So on a drive I notice this shelf-thing that was screaming "make me over!". Nathan asked his dad for help moving it....

much to my surprise they returned with even more!

Bringing me picture frames, some baskets, and even a random shelf.

Nathan said he saw the frames and thought 'score'!

To New Beginnings....

After both getting laid off in the past few months, Nathan and I decided it was time to move back to Lebanon. There are aspects of Bend we will miss (mountains, snow, friends) and a lot of things we will not (rude drivers). Continuing school in the fall is the plan, along with re-connecting with friends and creating lots of crafty projects!
